Estepona town hall presents project for beachside boulevard park

new boulevard project estepona

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, recently presented the blueprint for the latest phase of the beautification and renovation of Estepona that began when he first took office as mayor a decade ago. The project, which was designed by Málaga-based architect and urban planner Salvador Moreno Peralta, involves the creation of a beachside promenade park complete with hospitality and retail facilities that will link the downtown and marina areas of Estepona.

After the beautification of the historic centre of Estepona – which started with the painting and renovation of the old town areas, as well as the placing of the now iconic coloured flower pots that have added such charm and vibrancy to the old quarter –the town is embarking upon a new phase of renovation and redevelopment that is updating its infrastructure and turning it into one of the most dynamic and attractive residential and tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol.

People who have recently passed through the town will have seen work underway on a series of projects, including a new car park complete with electric charging stations, the stylish new high-tech town hall and the redevelopment of the existing beachside promenade that is being transformed into a stylish modern facility running between the town centre and the shoreline. The new project is in reality an extension of this boulevard that will link the town and marina zones.

Impressive beachside beautification

Presented by the mayor and the lead architect, itforms an important part of the overall beautification of Estepona that is transforming and modernising it and turning this Andalusian seaside town into one of the jewels of the Costa del Sol. It is the extension of the new beachside promenade towards the fishing harbour and marina, fronting in the process the charming fisherman’s village that lays in-between.

The plans include not only a stylish area for pedestrians and cyclists, with seating, children’s amenities and specific zones for exercise, but also an attractively landscaped green space, new restaurant venues and a retail facility fronting the shoreline amid wonderful sea views. These will be even more spectacular from the Torre Mirador, a modern tower that will offer wonderful panoramic vistas as well as cultural and social spaces for conferences, events, hospitality and educational.

In harnessing this long-forgotten but valuable resource on Estepona’s shoreline, the new beachside project will greatly further the rejuvenation and development of the town that has been progressing for a decade now, adding further stimulus to the rising star that is Estepona, and converting it into the ‘Garden of the Costa del Sol’.
