It was originally the private residence of its founder Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe – Langenburg who built a private residence in the early 1950´s before adding a further 20 rooms in 1954 and calling it the Marbella Club Hotel. It is mainly due to his drive and enthusiasm that “this small paradise on earth” as he described it became the destination for the rich, royal and famous over the ensuing years.
