With traditionally styled exteriors and contemporary interiors, this new-build, four-bedroom villa stands on a larger-than-average plot, with far-reaching views over the Mediterranean and mountains.

Peter, the owner of this delightful villa in the Selwo area of Estepona, was staying with a friend nearby when he first spotted the home being constructed just across the street, back in 2006.

He arranged to look around the property, which was in the “latter stages of the build, but still unfinished, and fell in love with the feel of the house,” he recalls.

The house has been used for holidays throughout the year – “at Christmas and New Year, as well as the summer and a long weekend almost every month” – and serves as “an escape from the UK,” Peter says.

The entrance level features a light-filled sitting room, with an open fireplace and four sets of patio doors that lead out to a covered terrace overlooking the garden and private pool.

A dining area adjoins the sitting room, while the fully-fitted, island kitchen, with stone work surfaces, features a breakfast bar for informal meals and has access to the dining terrace.

There is a double bedroom, with en-suite bathroom featuring bath and shower, and a guest cloakroom on the ground floor, while the other three bedrooms and three more bathrooms are all on the upper floor.

With its vaulted ceiling, private terrace, jacuzzi, and dual aspect, the master bedroom is Peter’s favourite spot in the house: “I love it in the morning, when the sun comes up,” he says, “You have views from Marbella and Puerto Banús to the Atlas mountains on one side and over the hills on the other. It’s so peaceful and quiet.”

Outdoors, there is an entrance patio to the front and extensive terraces and decking offering shade from the sun and, thanks to an electric awning, the perfect spot to entertain al fresco by the pool.

“Our input was mostly landscaping the garden,” Peter admits, and the immaculately maintained lawn and trees are testimony to efforts to keep it looking perfect.

The house is secure and low maintenance, he notes, and accessed by a paved driveway leading to a double garage, with parking space for three or four vehicles.

At the time of purchase, Peter says the villa was valued at over two million euros, but he has recently reduced the price to less than 1.2 million, making it, he feels, “a pretty good buy.”
